Bring me sunshine… colour and laughter
Nick and Steph absolutely went for it in their Humanist wedding ceremony at The Normans, just outside York. Their wedding ceremony was a riot of colour, laughter, love, music and meaningful moments.

Whirlwind wedding planning
Nick and Steph decided to marry in a whirlwind: they got engaged in February, booked the Normans and called me that week - to prepare for a wedding ceremony 12 weeks later! I loved working with them because of their enthusiasm and creativity. They involved their family too, with their siblings getting involved in readings. Steph’s sister Cara wrote a poem welcoming Nick to the family, and his sister Liz adapted Bee Rawlinson’s Love me when I’m old to reflect their love of Wordle!
Writing personalised wedding vows
Writing their own heartfelt, personal wedding vows made the vow exchange emotional, funny and sincere. There were giggles, smiles, some happy tears and a few stolen kisses. I supported Steph and Nick in writing their wedding vows, helping them hone their words until they were perfect.

Wedding singalong
“And then I saw her face… I’m a believer!” Led by guitarist and singer Daisy Kate, wedding guests joined in a rousing singalong of The Monkees’ I’m a believer! Guests enthusiastically joined in and Steph later said that the group singing had set the tone for the rest of the day.
Daisy Kate also sang a spine tinglingly good acoustic version of Tina Turner’s Simply the best while Nick and Steph signed their Humanist wedding ceremony certificate.
FINALLY… after several false starts and overexcited kisses, Nick and Steph really embraced their first kiss as husband and wife!
Nick and Steph walked down the aisle to Bring me sunshine, a favourite song and one that sums up how they make each other feel (and everyone around them)!
After the wedding ceremony… how well does my dress match Steph’s bouquet?
